There she came in contact with many youngsters who are passionate about the sport at Army Golf Course in Dhaula Kuan and at Delhi Golf Club. But her perception changed when she moved with her father to Army Cantonment near Dhaula Kuan when he got transferred there. Her father was posted at Deolali Cantt at that time and she used to practiced golf for at least 3 hours daily from 3 pm till dusk after returning from school at the “Army Environmental Park & Training Area Sarvatra – Deolali Golf Course” ( Holes: 18, Par: 72, Length: 5936 yards, Slope: 113).Įarlier she wasn’t interested towards the sport and always feels golf to be an old man’s game. Her father insisted her to learn and play golf when she was 12 years old was studying in 7th standard. She was also getting LSR (Lady Shri Ram College) for Women which was closer to defence colony where she was living at that time but chooses JMC over LSR because the Math (Hons) was better at JMC and the campus has a more vibrant feel to it. The cut-off for Mathematics (Hons) was 93% at JMC that year. Rakul took admission in Mathematics (Hons) course from the women-only JMC (Jesus and Mary College), University of Delhi. She had scored 93.2% in her 12th standard exams. Rakul preet singh had to change quite a few schools because of her dad’s service postings and for her 10th and 12th class she took admission in Army public school, Dhaula Kuan, south Delhi. She started training in karate in her second grade and even received a blue belt. She was never allowed to play childish games like hide-and-seek but was encouraged to play sports like tennis, basketball, badminton and golf or to learn swimming and horse riding. Right from school they kept her schedule tight which she feels wasn’t strict but a way of disciplined life.
